CEV Team Update! We’re thrilled to welcome Maya Bhat, PhD as our newest Investor.
Maya brings a unique combination of deep technical expertise and commercial experience, aligned with CEV’s focus on backing high-impact, scalable innovations that can deliver gigaton-scale emissions reductions within three decades. She holds dual bachelor’s degrees from Claremont McKenna College and Columbia University, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon, where her research focused on accelerating hydrogen catalyst discovery using machine learning and high-throughput experimentation.
In this role, Maya will support technical diligence, investment decision-making, and portfolio company growth, translating complex technologies into clear commercial pathways and helping companies scale from early validation to deployment. She will lead technical and techno-economic assessments, work closely with founders on scale-up strategies, and contribute to internal roadmapping and deep dives across key areas including grid modernization, energy storage, and industrial efficiency.
Maya has nearly a decade of experience spanning electrochemistry, techno-economic modeling, and early-stage commercialization. Most recently at Electric Hydrogen, Maya led product credit strategy and customer financing efforts, coordinated technical diligence across global stakeholders, and helped develop a technology performance insurance framework with leading reinsurers. She also built widely used techno-economic models, supported feasibility studies, and developed market intelligence across hundreds of hydrogen projects. Earlier, she conducted venture diligence at SOSV/HAX and was a founder of an energy storage startup.
“Maya embodies exactly what we look for in an investor at CEV – deep technical insight paired with a clear understanding of how technologies scale in the real world,” said Daniel Goldman, Managing Partner at Clean Energy Ventures. “Her ability to connect scientific innovation with commercial outcomes will be invaluable to both our investment process and the founders we support. We are excited to have her on the CEV team!”
Welcome, Maya!
