Maya Bhat is an Investor at CEV bridging the gap between deep-tech research and commercial realities of scaling climate solutions. Originally from Singapore, she completed her dual Bachelors’ degrees from Claremont Mckenna College and Columbia University. She then earned her PhD in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon, where she used machine learning and high-throughput experimentation to accelerate discovery for hydrogen catalysts. In her early career, she was a founder of an energy storage start up and held various VC positions.
Most recently, she was on the commercial team at Electric Hydrogen, where she served multiple functions — from technoeconomic modeling, developing durability models, and designing credit enhancing products necessary to unlock customer financing. At CEV, she is dedicated to scaling smart businesses that solve the world’s energy needs using her technical roots to de-risk the hardware needed for a high-impact, carbon-negative future. Outside of her work, Maya can be found fixing up her motorbike, playing golf, or on outdoor adventures with her husband and dog.
