Clean Energy Ventures Promotes Ted Dillon to COO and Peter Sopher to Investment Partner

On the heels of CEV’s latest additions to our investment and operations teams, we’re happy to announce the promotions of two long-time valued team members who have both had a hand in shaping the firm’s growth strategy and pipeline of planet-saving technologies. In anticipation of the firm’s plans for expansion in 2023, CEV has named Ted Dillon as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Peter Sopher as Investment Partner.

Ted Dillon, Chief Operating Officer

Ted, who has been with CEV since 2019 as Director of Marketing, is taking the reins as the firm’s new COO to provide leadership on the firm’s expansion strategy and manage internal and external functional operations. A seasoned marketing executive, Ted also acts as the interim-CMO and strategic advisor to the firm’s portfolio companies, supporting marketing strategy and growth planning. To date, he has advised dozens of early-stage climate tech startups on building awareness to develop market-leading commercial solutions.

Peter Sopher - Senior Associate
Peter Sopher, Investment Partner

Peter, who began as a Senior Associate in 2019, will take on a new role as Investment Partner, leading portfolio company sourcing, due diligence and post-investment support to take world-changing, gigaton-saving, technology innovations from lab to commercial scale. Peter also supports process management, LP engagement, fundraising and fund strategy, which will be key as the firm gears up for another year of rapid growth. To date, Peter has participated in or led diligence efforts for many of CEV’s portfolio companies. He also serves as Board Director for leading solar customer experience platform Bodhi Solar and participates in board meetings for a number of other CEV portfolio companies.

“Both Ted and Peter have been instrumental in enabling a high-growth investing process alongside a high touch portfolio support function over the past few years, and we wouldn’t be where we are today without them,” said Daniel Goldman, Co-founder and Managing Partner at Clean Energy Ventures. “As we look to scale decarbonization technologies globally, we are excited to have Ted and Peter in these new roles leading the path to finding and funding impactful innovations.”
